Rock music has been a wide genre of music for so long. Origins of Rock music can be dated back to the 1940's.
Many people will call Elvis Presley the originator of rock'n'roll,
taking old country or blues songs and playing them faster, with a much more steady beat.
What people dont realize is that Elvis presley would hide behind trash cans in an alleyway watching a black artist,
play small shows and Elvis would copy the body movements and way of playing music of this man.
Rock music is a mashup of many different genres including pop,country,blues,jazz and even hip-hop.
When people talk about rock'n'roll they think about Elvis Presley and The Beatles,
but they don't usually talk about non-white artists who were involved in the movement like Little Richard and Ike Turner.
The first person who introduced this new roaring sound to the world as "Rock'n'Roll" was Alan Freed. Alan Freed was a radio personality an disc jockey in ohio. "Freed would play the original singles by black artists instead of waiting for a white singer to cover them" and thats what caused a lot of controversy.
Freed claimed "Rock'n'Roll is really swing with a modern name". The teenagers at that time loved it and they'd use rock music as rebellion against their parents.
